a. When employees in leadership positions are ready to retire or otherwise have left the organization, it is optimal for the organization to have identified and developed several high potential leaders to replace outgoing leaders in the organization.

b. Planning on who that person may be with proper training and development beyond normal work tasks, requires leadership engagement into the development of those high potential employees.
