1. Why doesn't someone answer the phone when I call?

2. Is my address in the city limits?

If your Parcel number has a “P” in it, then you are in the City. Look on your tax bill for your parcel number. For example, this Parcel number is within the City Limits: 13-44-24-P4-00404.0080. You can also view our online map of the City boundary to see if you are within City limits.

3. Who do I call if my address is not in the city limits?

6. What does BTR mean?

Business Tax Receipt.  The State of Florida changed the name of “occupational license” to “BTR”.

7. Is everyone who has a business in the city limits is required to pay a business tax to the City?

Yes. Apply at 1825 Hendry St., Suite 101.

8. Can I put my fence on my property line?

9. Does every fence installation require a permit?

Yes.  Every fence requires a permit in order to be installed.

10. How many signs am I allowed at my business and what are the regulations?

Single tenant businesses are allowed 2 signs, one ground sign (not to exceed 250 square feet) and one wall sign (not to exceed 125 square feet). Sign regulations are found at www.municode.com in Chapter 126. Every sign requires a permit in order to be installed, including a change out of the face(s) of the sign.  

11. What are the setbacks for a pool or a shed?

The setbacks regulations are set by your zoning district, which can be found on the City’s Zoning Map or call Planning and Zoning at 239-321-7975 for your zoning district and setbacks.

Lee County Community Development/Public Works building is located on the corners of First and Monroe, Main and Monroe,  Heitman and Main, and Heitman and First.

1. Take Hendry Street to First Street and turn left onto First
2. Follow First crossing over Broadway and crossing over Monroe
3. Upon crossing over Monroe, make an immediate left hand turn into the parking lot of the Lee County Community Development and Public Works building parking lot.
