The Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is proud to announce that Cheryl Vaughan Thornton, who joined the CRA in September 2018 as Community Redevelopment Manager, and was promoted to the role of Fiscal Manager for the Agency in March 2019.
As Fiscal Manager, Ms. Thornton will oversee financial processes such as the CRA’s budgets, financial reports, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) calculations, disbursements, etc.
Prior to joining the CRA, Ms. Thornton was a juvenile case manager for BAYS Florida, working with first-time offenders and primarily servicing Collier County. Before relocating to Florida, she was the co-founder/manager of a family-owned retail chain for 15 years. Before her entrepreneurial career, Ms. Thornton worked for DuPont, Delaware’s largest employer and at the time a Fortune 20 corporation, where she served in various accounting and supervisory positions.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a Concentration in Public Administration from Virginia State University, as well as a Master of Science in Business Administration from Wilmington University.
Ms. Thornton is currently affiliated with the Delta Life Development Center in Fort Myers, servicing as Treasurer, and is a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
She is a native of Pamplin, Virginia. In 2012, she relocated to Fort Myers from Wilmington, Delaware.
