CRA Board approved the purchase of a customized Medical/Fire Rescue Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) for $26,000 using Downtown redevelopment area funds, to be used by the Fire Department to better navigate through the River District’s growing special events.
At the Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) January 23, 2019, Board meeting, commissioners recognized that the River District’s growing special events required improved first responder access in navigating the crowded streets—so the Board approved the purchase of a customized Medical/Fire Rescue Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) to be used by Fire Department personnel.
Using the new UTV, first responders will have the right-size vehicle necessary to aid several types of emergencies while inside any event. The new vehicle will also give River District shopkeepers maximum exposure to emergency services during scheduled events and road closures.
The CRA will purchase the Medical/Fire Rescue UTV for $26,000 using Downtown redevelopment area funds. The UTV will be housed, maintained, and operated by the Fort Myers Fire Department. The Fire Department will determine staffing, which may include Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and/or Paramedics, Hazmat Technicians, and Marine Operators.
