FORT MYERS, FL (Apr. 12, 2018) – The Fort Myers Fire Department is hosting special guest Jerry Lachance on Friday, April 13 as he travels through town on his bicycle raising money for charity. Jerry, a 23 year member of the Sandown, NH Fire Department, is riding his bicycle from Miami, FL to the New Hampshire/Canadian border. On his ride through Southwest Florida, Jerry will stay overnight at Fort Myers Fire Department Station 1.

The 70-year-old cyclist is riding to raise nearly $25,000 for Project Hero, an organization supporting our nation’s veterans by building and donating adaptive bicycles to those in need.

“It’s our pleasure to host fellow firefighter Jerry Lachance as he travels north on his ride to raise money for Project Hero,” said FMFD Chief John Caufield. “Jerry is a wonderful example of what you can do to bring awareness and community participation around a meaningful cause.”
