FORT MYERS, Fla. (Feb. 22, 2018) – Mayor Randy Henderson and the City of Fort Myers are celebrating 20 years of Florida Gulf Coast University and eight years of Eagle athletics at a breakfast on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. at Burroughs Home, 2505 First Street, Fort Myers, FL.
Featured speakers include City of Fort Myers Mayor Randy Henderson, FGCU President Dr. Mike Martin, and FGCU Athletics Director Ken Kavanagh.
Over the past 20 years, FGCU has steadily and strategically expanded its presence with nearly 15,000 students enrolled this year, more than 500 faculty and 800 staff. The University is a major economic driver in this region, including its NCAA Division 1 athletics program.
“FGCU is a wonderful asset to this community, and the athletics program has been tremendous for Fort Myers and the surrounding areas,” remarked Henderson. “I look forward to working with FGCU to enhance partnerships throughout the city that help FGCU students, faculty and staff learn from exceptional government and business leaders right here in the City of Fort Myers.”
