The agreement with River District Alliance (RDA), also known as Downtown Management Corporation, is in the second year of a two-year agreement which is set expire on September 30, 2021.
The Downtown Management Corporation of Fort Myers, Florida (DMC), was incorporated on November 28, 1994. It was formed by a group of downtown property owners, business owners and residents whose purpose was to assist in the revitalization of the historic downtown district by promoting events and the redevelopment of downtown while supporting efforts to restore historic sites. The DMC became a 501(c)3 in 2000, and in 2007 they added a "doing business as" title (d/b/a), River District Alliance (RDA).
The mission of the RDA is to promote and enhance the continued development of the historic Fort Myers River District as a hub of economic, social and cultural activity.
The RDA works to be a common voice to our elected officials and local decision makers. Members of the RDA continue to be locally-based merchants, residents and property owners within the boundaries of the River District (Downtown Fort Myers redevelopment area). The RDA's goal is to promote and enhance the continued development of the historic downtown as a hub of economic, social and cultural activity. RDA’s success can be judged by simply strolling down the streets of the River District. Eclectic boutiques, art galleries, live theater, award-winning restaurants, tourist attractions and fantastic venues line the streets and beyond throughout the River District. As one of the fastest growing areas in the nation, the RDA strives to preserve the essence of downtown while promoting the growth of the business and economic sectors that make the area thrive.
