FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 14, 2019) – Fort Myers is ranked as the 6th fastest-growing city in the United States in 2019, according to the personal finance website WalletHub. Three other Florida cities are included the top 20 rankings.
“Our permitting activity continues to break records,” said Saeed Kazemi, P.E., City Manager. “The mix of amenities, attractions and cultural diversity found in Fort Myers, paired with a favorable business environment, strengthens our desirability both as a destination and as the commercial hub of Southwest Florida.”
To determine where the most rapid local economic growth occurred over a period of seven years, WalletHub compared 515 U.S. cities across 17 key metrics. The data set ranges from population growth to college-educated population growth to unemployment rate decrease. Fort Myers ranks sixth overall and third in terms of small-city growth.
Fort Myers ranked first in local economic indicator categories of job growth, growth in the number of businesses, and median house price growth.
