Household Hazardous Waste

Dangers of Hazardous Waste

  • Auto oil and anti-freeze
  • Car batteries
  • Drain cleaners liquid paint thinner
  • Float switches
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Pesticides polishes and strippers
  • Pool chemicals
  • Thermostats
Any item not listed above that is marked corrosive, flammable, toxic or reactive is also considered hazardous waste.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days
The Lee County Department of Solid Waste sponsors several Household Hazardous Waste Collection days throughout the year. Many of these products are poisonous and can be harmful or fatal if swallowed. If you have any of the following materials in your home, garage, or shed, please bring them to the next collection so they can be recycled or disposed of properly. These products will not be picked up with your regular trash collection.

Collection Regulations
No business waste will be accepted. This program is for household hazardous waste only. Do not bring empty containers. They may be placed with your regular garbage.
