About the Department
Information Technology Services (ITS) provides a variety of services relating to:
- Application software development and support
- Computer and telecommunications services
- Graphic design and production services
- Software training to all internal city clients and departments
These services encompass:
- Government Access Channel
- Personal computers
- POS facilities
Information systems technology changes rapidly and new systems and technology are continually being implemented and installed. The ITS Department strives to translate this technology into higher productivity for our agencies and departments, and higher quality output and reduced costs of operations that ultimately benefits the citizens of Fort Myers.
System & Network Support
The department maintains and develops the city´s core communication infrastructure including the local and wide area network. The department maintains file and application servers and network security. The department also performs asset management, software distribution, and technical support for hardware and software.
Development provides design, development, implementation and continued support of specialized applications, data, and databases citywide.
The ITS department provides Online Geographic Information Systems (GIS) maps and data for The city of Fort Myers. The City of Fort Myers has a Small Government Enterprise License Agreement (SGELA) with ESRI Inc., the leading GIS software vendor in the world. The City of Fort Myers ITS GIS division provides internal GIS support for the various city departments that use GIS. Citizens can view web maps and download geographic data from here.
Our help desk and software training program help ensure levels of competencies are maintained and our clients fully utilize the technology available to them, which provides our citizens with more efficient and cost-effective results.
In-house graphic specialists offer to assist any city agency or department in design and/or production of internal and external marketing pieces such as billboards, invitations, brochures, and newsletters.
A full-service copy center provides city agencies and departments with a wide range of services including high-volume reproduction, cutting, binding, and mounting of most any type of document.
The ITS Department develops, implements and maintains the city´s Internet and Intranet services.
Includes the management of the city´s Government Access Channel. The ITS Department supervises the content and programming to provide a continual communication service to our citizens.
To support city operations through providing integrated, user-friendly, and modern Information Technology with a high level of customer support and training.
