Logistics

The Logistics Division provides multiple services in support of the Fire Department’s mission. Logistics manages repair and maintenance of the six (6) fire stations and the twelve front line and reserve fire response vehicles. Logistics is responsible for ensuring that the equipment firefighters need to perform their duties is on hand and in operational condition. Some of the other responsibilities of Logistics include: development of specifications for apparatus and personal protective equipment, design and construction of new facilities, presenting to community groups as a representative of the Fire Chief, and providing large-scale logistical support within the Incident Command System.

Bio

Chief Leitschuh has been with the Fort Myers Fire Department since 1992.  In her spare time she enjoys traveling and visiting new places with her family.  She is a third generation firefighter and respectfully acknowledges her Father Jim, husband Gordy, a Phoenix Fire Captain, and brother Alan, a Fort Myers Firefighter.  She holds an AS in Fire Science Technology, BS and currently completing her MA in Human Resources Development and Administration from Barry University.  She has attended the National Fire Academy in Emittsburg, MD, for classes ranging from Hazardous Materials to Public Relations.  Over 29 years with the department Chief Leitschuh was the first female to hold the ranks of Engineer, Captain, and Division Chief in the history of the department.  She is the recipient of the City of Fort Myers Employee of the Year award for 2018.  

As the Division Chief of Logistics the primary responsibilities revolve around coordinating equipment and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) maintenance and repair, managing station repairs, and assisting the Fire Chief with planning for future organizational needs as it relates to the Logistics Division.
