Attention All Female Players!!! The City of Fort Myers Athletics is looking at offering a fun and competitive Women's Soccer League here in Fort Myers come this April, 2012. Registrations are being accepted for the Advanced Volleyball League that will start up on January 25th, 2011! League will consist of a 10 week season with playoffs to follow. Cost is $150 per team. League will have a 30 game schedule consisting of a 3 game 1 day match. Total number of wins will be added up to decide the playoff seeding. Games are played in downtown Fort Myers across the street from the Harborside Event Center in Historic Downtown Fort Myers. Volleyball Rules & Procedures

Beach Volleyball Court Rules

  • First come, first serve.
  • Two game limit when people are waiting to use the court.
  • No glass bottles
  • No alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs.
  • No littering
  • Leave the court in better shape than you found it.
  • No foul or abusive langue
  • No pets within 20 feet of the court
  • Children under 16 years of age must be supervised.
  • Do not hang from the net.
  • Do not climb the poles.

Volleyball Rules

  • Each match will consist of 3 sets up to 21 using rally scoring.
  • Teams must have a two-point advantage to win a set.
  • There are two (2) timeouts per set with duration of 30 seconds each.
  • Only one (1) injury timeout per player per match is allowed.
  • A side change will occur after every set.
  • A coin toss will begin each match. The captains will participate in a coin toss one captain calls heads or tails. The winning captain can choose to serve, receive or side. The losing captain picks the opposite.
  • Time between sets will be five (5) minutes.
  • A let serve is considered"in play." This means, if a server's ball hits the net and falls into the receiving team's space, the ball is in play.
  • Serves will alternate after each set.
  • Teams will consist of 6 player roster, 4 play at time. 2 guy and 2 girls or 3 guys and 1 girl but one must be on the court at all times.
  • Guys and girls must alternate serves and positions in the rotation.
  • Basic Volleyball rules apply, ( no lifts, no double hits, honesty in or out of bounds, no carrying, 3 hits on the same side, the 3rd hit the ball must go over, can’t touch the net when hitting or blocking, players can’t go under the net either with any part of the body)

PLAYOFFS WILL START FEBRUARY 8TH. SEEDS #3 THROUGH #6 FOR BOTH CONFERENCES WILL PLAY THAT NIGHT. WINNING TEAMS WILL THEN PLAY THE #1 & #2 SEEDS IN THEIR CONFERENCE ON THE 13TH. THE 4 TEAMS WILL THEN PLAY ON THE 15TH. THE FINAL TWO WINNING TEAMS WILL THEN PLAY FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP ON FEBRUARY 20TH AT 8P.M. GAMES TIMES FOR THE EARLIER ROUNDS WILL BE UP SOON.

Registration are open for the upcoming Spring Season!!! Individuals are welcomed and will be placed on teams with open spots. Season will start April 9th, 2012 or until the newly resoded field is ready!!! Team fee is $300. Games will be played on either a Monday or Wednesday evening with game times being 6:45p.m,7:45p.m, 8:45p.m, & 9:45p.m. Teams will only play on one of the two nights (Monday or Wednesday night). Coed 7vs7 Soccer Standings:

Teams that win their division will automatically get a playoff birth. The remaining 4 teams in that conference will be on a pts system. Their will be only 12 teams (6 Eastern & 6 Western) out of 20 that will make the playoffs.

Scoring System: 4pts win w/shutout, 3pts win, & 1 pt for tie

Soccer Rules & Procedures

Roster Requirements
Teams will play 7vs7. A minimum of 4 players is required to avoid a forfeit. Each team is required to have two female players on the field. You are allowed to “borrow” one female player from another team if you are short a female player. If you have no female players at the start of the game, you are allowed to borrow one from another team, but then you play down a player. If you have only one on the original roster playing, then you are allowed to borrow one female player resulting in having the minimum required 2 females in which both play the whole game.
 
The Start of Play
1. Choice of ends will be decided at the start of the game.
2. Each game will consist of two 25 minute halves. Halftime is 5 minutes.
3. Change of ends shall start at the beginning of the second half.
 
Ball In and Out of Play
1. The Ball is out of play when it has completely crossed the plane of the side line or end line.
2. A player may be out of bounds and legally play a ball which is on the line or at the field of play.
3. When the ball crosses a touch line (sideline) it is put back into play by a Kick In. When the ball crosses the end line it is put back into play:
a. by a corner kick, if last touched by a defensive player
b. by a goal kick if last touched by an offensive player.
4. Drop ball after temporary suspension of play, either for injury or official's time, the ball shall be placed in play by a "drop ball", if neither team is in clear possession. Drop balls must touch the ground before being played. If either player touches the ball before it hits the ground, the drop ball shall be repeated.
 
Substitutions
Unlimited “on the fly” with the referee’s permission.
 
Method of Scoring
1. A goal is scored when the entire ball has passed completely over the plane of the goal line.
a. Goal may be scored during play directly from a:
i. direct free kick
ii. penalty kick
iii. corner kick
iv. drop ball
v. goalkeepers throw, punt, or drop kick
b. A goal may not be scored during play directly from a:
i. kickoff
ii. indirect freekick
iii. goal kick
iv. kicking
v. freekick into a team's own goal
 
Offside
1.There is “NO” offside’s in 7 vs 7 soccer.
 
Fouls and Misconduct: DIRECT FREEKICKS
One in which goal can be scored directly for the kick.
1. KICKING
2. TRIPPING
3. HOLDING
4. PUSHING
5. STRIKING/HITTING
6. CHARGING
7. HAND BALL
8. SLIDE TACKLE: SLIDE TACKLES ARE ILLEGAL!!!!
Referee will decide whether or not the slide tackle was indeed meant in an aggressive behavior. If the referee feels it was, then that player will remain on the sideline for that entire half resulting in that team playing down until the start of the new half. This rule is meant to be harsh and strictly enforced in order to keep players safe and enjoying the game of soccer.
 
VERBAL ABUSE,such as taunting of players, referees, and/or spectators by players, substitutes, coaches or spectators are cause for immediate expulsion and suspension.
 
Fouls and Misconduct: INDIRECT FREE KICK
One from which a goal cannot be scored unless the ball has been played or touched by a player other than the kicker before passing through a goal.
1. DANGEROUS PLAY
2. CHARGING FAIRLY - With the shoulder when the ball is not within playing distance of the players concerned and they are definitely not trying to play it.
3. OBSTRUCTION - Deliberate act of a player, not in possession of the ball or not attempting to play the ball, of running between an opponent and the ball, or using the body as an obstacle to prevent opponent from gaining possession of the ball.
4. CHARGING THE GOALKEEPER -The goalkeeper in possession of the ball shall not be interfered with.
5. FOULS COMMITTED BY THE GOALKEEPER
a. The goalkeeper shall not deliberately play the ball and then touch it again with his/her hands before it has been played or touched by another player of the same team outside the penalty area or by a player of the opposing team either inside or outside the penalty area.
b. When a player deliberately kicks the ball to his/her own goalkeeper, the goalkeeper is not permitted to touch it with his/her own hands.
 
Penal Times:
1.All Cautionable offenses (Yellow Card) will be a 10 minute penalty for the player. Team will not play down a player.
2.All Sending-Off offenses (Red Card) will be punished by ejection
for the rest of the game, and the team will play short by one player for the rest of the game.
3.If a player receives 2 cautions in one game, he/she will sit out the rest of the game and his team will play short by one player for the rest of the game. 
 
PENALTY KICK
All direct kick fouls occurring in the defensive penalty area and made by the defensive team become penalty kicks.
Equipment a. Molded cleats, turf shoes and flats (including black-soled) are acceptable footwear. Metal stud cleats are prohibited.
 
Injuries: Any player who is bleeding must leave the field. Time will not be stopped for injuries.
 
Goalies: Once the goalkeeper has possession of the soccer ball in his or her hands, he/she may throw or punt the soccer ball passed the halfway line of the field on the fly.

Winter Youth Basketball Registration is Now Open! Our seasons last 10 weeks with practice starting the week of January 4th. There will be one night of practice a week at either Fort Myers Middle School or Three Oaks Middle School. Games will start January 16th and will be at Fort Myers Middle on Saturday mornings. DODGEBALL

You’ve seen the movie, but you still can’t dodge a wrench … no problem. Join our City of Fort Myers Dodgeball League and you’ll perfect the thunder bolt, flinger, and boomerang in no time. This is more fun than a barrel of monkeys … wait, that sounds awful … ok, this is more fun than what you remember from 3rd grade. Dodge, Duck, Dive, and Dodge … oh yeah!!!

Please note this league is only offered when we meet our minimum number required to offer this league.

League games are played at Shady Oaks on Thursday with Tuesday as a second night if needed. Team fees are $300. Teams are responsible for a $10 referee fee each game.
