The Southwest Florida Museum of History is located at 2300 Peck Street just one block south of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in historic downtown Ft. Myers. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. It is open to individuals and for group tours.

Housed in the former Atlantic Coastline Railroad depot, the Museum is home to the history of Southwest Florida. Paleo Indians, the Calusa, the Seminoles, Spanish explorers, and early settlers are just a few of the people you will meet as you view our exhibits. An authentic replica of a pioneer "cracker" house, a 1926 La France fire pumper, and a 1929 private Pullman rail car are also part of the tour.

In addition, the museum also houses an extensive artifacts collection detailing early civilization, the Fort, the first settlers, the cattlemen, turn of the century, the military and agriculture, boating and fishing industries in Fort Myers are highlighted as well as a display of 1,200 pieces of depression and carnival glass.

Adults are $9.50
Seniors $8.50
Groups of 10 or more $7.50
Students with ID are $5

Lee County residents showing proof of residency receive $1 off admission.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, April 9th when the museum welcomes featured author Diane Ketcham as the final author until August 2008 of its monthly program, Night at the Museum: an Author's Evening. The Southwest Florida Museum of History wraps-up hosting its popular Author's Evening, a community-based monthly event open to the public to help raise funds for the museum. The event has been held the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the museum when the museum hosts an author from a variety of genres from 7-9 pm. This evening includes light fare, refreshments, dessert courtesy of Mason's Bakery, a presentation by the featured author and a meet-and-greet book signing - all for just $15 per person!

The adventure begins on April 9th when the museum welcomes Diane Ketcham, a former New York Times columnist; chief of staff and press secretary to a New York congressman who combines those careers in this new thriller! Ketcham, a Naples resident, has just published her 1st book, 'The Vanishing A-List' featuring Naples and will share her exciting careers, writing insight and her well-received debut novel during this fun and entertaining evening!
