Hazardous Materials

Each year, many unsuspecting refuse workers are injured by hazardous waste disposed of incorrectly. The Lee County Department of Solid Waste sponsors several Household Hazardous Waste Collection days throughout the year. Many of these products are poisonous and can be harmful or fatal if swallowed. If you have any of the following materials in your home, garage or shed, please bring them to the next collection so they can be recycled or disposed of properly. These products will not be picked up with your regular trash collection.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

  • Fluorescent Tubes
  • Pesticides Polishes/Strippers
  • Drain Cleaners Liquid Paint/Thinner
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Float Switches
  • Car Batteries
  • Thermostats
  • Auto Oil & Anti-freeze

Any item not listed above that is marked corrosive, flammable, toxic or reactive is also considered hazardous waste.

No business waste will be accepted. This program is for household hazardous waste only. Do not bring empty containers. They may be placed with your regular garbage.
