The Community Development Department serves thousands of citizens each year with a wide range of services associated with permitting, plan review, inspections, code enforcement, zoning, land use planning, affordable housing, historic preservation, occupational licensing, garage sale permits and much more, for properties located within the city limits of Fort Myers. Our mission, through the services we provide, is to promote public health and safety, help maintain a healthy environment, promote a strong local economy, and provide courteous, timely, and efficient service to the public.
Effective Thursday, October 1st, 2009, the office hours for the
Community Development Department will be 7:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The office will be closed from 11:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. daily.
The Community Development Department is comprised of six Divisions:
