The Code Enforcement Division is responsible for issuing Business Tax Receipts to all new businesses within the city limits, as well as coordinating the annual Tax renewal process for existing businesses. New businesses are encouraged in and welcomed to the City. Our staff shall do everything possible to help make locating or relocating a business within the City a successful event. The local business tax receipt regulations of the City can be found in Chapter 82 of the City Code. A current and valid Tax Receipt is required prior to engaging in business activity within the City limits. Our Local Business Tax staff work closely with the Zoning, Permitting and Inspections divisions to ensure proper zoning and health/safety requirements are met. Tax Receipts must be applied for in person at the Community Development Department 1825 Hendry St. Suite # 101.
New Credit Card Feature! Pay your Business Tax fee online! Your Tax Receipt must not be expired and you must have a "fixed fee rate" in order to use this service. These fees may also be paid using the Interactive Voice Response Line (IVR phone line: 239 461-4424) by selecting Option 6 and following the prompts.
Garage/Yard Sales
City Code Chapter 66-31 allows residents and non-profit organizations to hold up to two (2) garage/yard sales per calendar year per address. Garage/yard sales may continue for up to three days per sale between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. only. All sales must be registered (permitted) through the Community Development Department. Registration is FREE of charge. Upon registration up to four (4) double faced advertising signs will be provided. Signs shall be placed in a manner that does not interfere with traffic and shall comply with the sign regulations of the City.
