Dumpsters Available for Urgent Disposal Needs

Disposal Dumpster

FORT MYERS, FL (September 12, 2017) – The City of Fort Myers has dumpsters available for residents to dispose of perishable items that cannot be kept indoors.  These dumpsters are only meant for items that can not wait for regular pickup.

Starting Wednesday morning, the urgent need dumpsters will be located at:

  • 951 Marsh St. (Billy Bowlegs Park)
  • 1971 Cranford Ave. (Behind McCollum Hall)
  • Intersection of Champion Ring Rd. and Destination Dr. (near SR-82/Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.)
  • 1600 Block of Jefferson Ave. (Across from Jefferson Park)

These dumpsters will be in place through the weekend.  Citizens are urged to continue using their curbside solid waste disposal for regular household trash.

Solid waste and yard waste pickup has resumed in the City of Fort Myers.  The residential trash pickup schedule for this week is as follows:

Normal Pickup Day:                 Pickup This Week:

Monday                                   Wednesday, Sept. 13

Tuesday                                  Thursday, Sept. 14

Thursday                                 Friday, Sept. 15

Friday                                      Saturday, Sept. 16

At this time, the City is not picking up recycling.

Commercial solid waste customers will be serviced on their regular schedule starting on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

In order to accommodate the large amount of horticultural debris around the City, Fort Myers Public Works has begun collecting yard waste.  Customers will be serviced as soon after their normal pickup date as possible, starting with regular Monday pickups.

If you have any questions concerning your service, please contact the City of Fort Myers 24-hour response line at (239) 321-8100.
