FORT MYERS, FL (September 8, 2017) – The Community Redevelopment Association of the City of Fort Myers has postponed its Special Meeting that was scheduled for Monday, September 11. The meeting had been called to adopt the agency’s budget resolution for fiscal year 2018.
Earlier this week, The City of Fort Myers announced that its September 11 preliminary budget hearing has been postponed until further notice.
On September 4, Governor Rick Scott issued Executive Order 17-235. Section 4 of the Executive Order states that government agencies may waive or deviate from statutes, rules, ordinances, and orders they administer to the extent that such actions are necessary in response to the Hurricane Irma Emergency. As a result, the Florida Department of Revenue has issued an Emergency Order waiving statutory timing requirements regarding millage and budget hearings.
The CRA and City budget meetings will be rescheduled after the impact of Hurricane Irma has been assessed. A new public notice will be issued once the dates have been determined. In order to comply with Florida Statute, the final City budget meeting, currently scheduled for September 25, will also be rescheduled for a later date.
City of Fort Myers public notices are advertised in accordance with the requirements set forth by Florida Statute. Additionally, citizens can access the public notice by visiting the City of Fort Myers website: http://www.cityftmyers.com/282/City-Clerks-Office.
