FORT MYERS, FL (September 7, 2017) – The City of Fort Myers’ September 11 preliminary budget hearing has been postponed until further notice.
Earlier this week, Governor Rick Scott issued Executive Order 17-235. Section 4 of the Executive Order states that government agencies may waive or deviate from statutes, rules, ordinances, and orders they administer to the extent that such actions are necessary in response to the Hurricane Irma Emergency. As a result, the Florida Department of Revenue has issued an Emergency Order waiving statutory timing requirements regarding millage and budget hearings.
The budget hearing will be rescheduled next week, and a new public notice will be issued at that time. In order to comply with Florida Statute, the final budget meeting, currently scheduled for September 25, will also be rescheduled for a later date.
City of Fort Myers public notices are advertised in accordance with the requirements set forth by Florida Statute. Additionally, citizens can access the public notice by visiting the City of Fort Myers website: http://www.cityftmyers.com/282/City-Clerks-Office.
