On Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 2:11 a.m. Officer Glenn Eppler and Officer Nick Ursitti arrested Manuel Reed (d.o.b. 11/15/1999 of Fort Myers) at Fowler Street and Second Street for the 7-Eleven robbery that occurred early Friday morning.

Reed was identified by officers as one of the perpetrators caught on store surveillance. Evidence collected from Reed at the time of his arrest also linked him to the robbery. Reed provided a confession to investigators.

On April 24, 2015 at 5:35 p.m., the Special Investigations Group with the assistance of SWAT, North District Community Policing Coordinators and uniformed officers conducted a lawful search warrant at 3711 Seminole Avenue.

On February 13, 2015 at 8:10 a.m., the Special Investigations Group with the assistance of SWAT and uniformed officers conducted a lawful search warrant at 2930 Thomas Street, apartment 18.

The investigation was the result of undercover operations targeting street level drug sales.

Car-hopping is the act of walking down a street, usually at night, and casually checking every car on the street to see if it is unlocked. If a car is found unlocked the car hopper searches the car for valuables to steal.

The Fort Myers Police Department is currently investigating a vehicle versus motorcyclist crash in the 4800 block of Cleveland Avenue. Due to the nature of the crash Traffic Homicide Investigators have been summoned.
