Councilman Tom Leonardo
Information:
Councilman Tom Leonardo represents the City’s new Ward 6, which was created when the City’s new City Manager form of government was passed by the voters in 2005, and approved by the Federal Court in 2006.
Ward 6 in land area is as large as the other five City wards combined, and the vast majority of the City’s development, both residential and commercial, is taking place in Ward 6.
Tom is a veteran of the United States Navy, and is a strong supporter of the men and women in the uniformed services of the United States. He serves the people of the entire city and of the new Ward 6, which is made up of so many transplants like him. He realizes that all citizens, regardless of their ward, share many common interests, and believes that all citizens need to be involved with their local government in this historic time of unprecedented growth and downtown revitalization.
Councilman Leonardo and his wife of 43 years, Marianne, have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. He spent most of his professional career in New York City before he and his wife moved to Fort Myers in 2004. He is an avid tennis player, boater and fisherman.
TERM OF OFFICE: Elected in 2007 for a 4 year term.
