2004 Arts & Culture Grant Winners

Fort Myers, FL (June 21, 2004) – The City of Fort Myers awarded $40,000 to 15 different individuals or organizations on Monday, June 21, 2004, during the city council meeting.  This is the third year the City has awarded grants to non-profit organizations. Since starting the arts and culture grants program, the Council has given a total of $139,000 to 31 individuals or organizations.  The City recognizes the importance of the arts to the cultural, educational and economic well being of its diverse population.  The City’s goal is to encourage artistic quality and program innovation therefore providing funding for arts and cultural programs.

The following organizations were recognized:

  • Woodturner’s of SWFL - $3,000
  • Art League of Fort Myers - $5,000
  • Gulf Coast Symphony - $1,000
  • Gulfcoast Dance, - Inc. $5,000
  • Nadine Miller (individual artist) - $1,000
  • David Hammel (individual artist) - $1,000
  • Alyce Bouchette (individual artist) - $1,000
  • Kosmas Ballis (individual artist) - $1,000
  • Carlos Ernesto Masis (individual artist) - $1,000
  • Theatre Conspiracy - $4,000
  • Aesthetix Magazine - $1,000
  • ACT (Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc.) - $3,000
  • Colours School of Art - $8,000
  • Art Fest - $3,000
  • Alliance for the Arts - $2,000
